successes

Edmund Thormählen, who was a member of Göteborgs Kungliga Segelsällskap , took part in the 1908 Olympic Games in London as a crew member of the Vinga in the 8-meter class under skipper Carl Hellström , which sailed for the medals with four other boats. Since the overall result was based on the best result of the individual races, the Vinga was not in the medal ranks after a fifth and a fourth place in the first two races. In the third and final race, however, she managed a victory, so that she finished second behind the twice-victorious British boat Cobweb from skipper Blair Cochrane . In addition to Thormählen and Hellström, crew members Eric Sandberg , Erik Wallerius and Harald Wallin also won the silver medal.
