Eduard Andrés

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eduard Peter Andrés (* 1900 ; † 1972 ) was a German film collector and mediator . He was also a writer of films and film books.

Life

Eduard Andrés wrote the scripts for four Edmund Heuberger films in 1929 and 1930 , mainly for the Lux series . In 1934, together with Walter Wassermann, he also wrote the book for the star vehicle Herz ist Trumpf (1934), staged by Carl Boese .

First and foremost, however, Andrés was not a film author, but a film lover , organized exhibitions and gave popular science lectures on the subject of film and film history. In this context, he was considered an "important figure" in Germany for a while and was even used to maintain the front lines during World War II .

At the time of the Third Reich , the cineast also published novels based on Hollywood films, such as May's time , Der Werkpilot and Broadway-Melodie (all 1938). These appeared as luxury editions with many film photos in art prints, sometimes at a time when there was still no dubbed version in German.

In the post-war period Eduard Andrés set up a public film history institute of a private nature that is now in the archive of the Deutsche Kinemathek. He was also significantly involved in the study and professional guide through film production, guidelines for training in artistic and technical film professions with suggestions about further training opportunities for filmmakers. How do I get into film? (1955).

The work of Andrés, who in his time took unusual, sensational paths in the field of historical film mediation, but sometimes crossed the border to dubious according to the taste of some colleagues, is almost forgotten today.
