Walter Wassermann

Carl Oskar Walter Wassermann (born September 19, 1883 in Berlin , † October 4, 1944 in Salzburg ) was a German actor and screenwriter .

Life

Walter Wassermann was born as the son of the Berlin building contractor Wilhelm Wassermann and his wife Marie Elisabeth Margarethe, b. Neumann, both of Protestant religion, were born. He made his acting debut in 1905 in Neisse . After a few years he also worked as a theater director , eventually becoming deputy theater director at the Berlin Central Theater .

He started working as an actor in film in 1912. During the First World War , he and his wife, actress Adele Hartwig , ran the German Theater in Lodz . After the war ended, he soon concentrated exclusively on writing screenplays. He initially wrote crime novels, then a considerable number of comedies and adventure stories, often as a co-author.

Wassermann was only involved in complex projects in later years, including Sergeant Berry with Hans Albers , Kora Terry with Marika Rökk and the two biographies Robert Koch, the Fighter of Death and Friedrich Schiller - The Triumph of a Genius .
