Eduard Hilger (born December 5, 1900 in Cologne , † January 10, 1974 in Heilbronn ) was a German manufacturer, councilor (CDU, FDP) and IHK president.

family

He was half-Jewish and his first marriage was a daughter of the Wolff industrial family. The marriage resulted in the children Helga and Joachim Hilger, who made claims for reimbursement in connection with the sale of the property in 1941 with the relocation of the Kranen-Wolff company due to the fact that their father was a “hybrid” as managing director.

In 1927 he joined the machine works Julius Wolff & Co GmbH as a partner, which he headed from 1938 to 1963 as managing director. From 1963 he was the managing director of Lucca GmbH. After the end of the Second World War, he was briefly entrusted with the administration of NSU Motorenwerke as one of the trustees .

He has also worked in various public and private companies as well as in various associations. In 1946 he was a member of the advisory board of the Heilbronn Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), and from 1946 to 1952 he was Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce. From 1952 to 1968 he was President of the Heilbronn Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Honorary President). From May 26, 1946 to October 31, 1971 he was on the Heilbronn municipal council and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group from July 1946 to December 1962. In 1968 he switched from the CDU to the FDP.

Awards

On December 6, 1965 he received the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) and on July 29, 1971 the Ring of Honor of the City of Heilbronn. In 1996 Eduard-Hilger-Strasse in Heilbronn was named after him.
