Eduard Köck (born August 8, 1965 in Waidhofen an der Thaya ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. He has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council for Lower Austria since 2013 .

Köck attended the elementary school Thaya from 1971 to 1975 and switched to secondary school 2 Waidhofen an der Thaya in 1975. He then completed the polytechnic course in Waidhofen an der Thaya from 1980 to 1981 and continued his education from 1981 to 1984 at the Edelhof Agricultural College. Here he was also trained as a master craftsman from 1985, taking the master craftsman examination in Edelhof in May 1987. In addition, from 1992 to 1995 he attended an external course at the higher federal teaching and research institute Francisco Josephinum Wieselburg with an engineering examination .

Köck has been a self-employed farmer since 1986 . He runs his business together with his son, which is a mixed business with around 70% arable farming, 15% grassland and 15% forest. Köck is particularly dedicated to the cultivation of grain, with brewing barley being grown on around 10 hectares for the Schrems brewery . Köck also produces maize and feed for sheep breeding. In operation Berrichon du Cher , Lacaune and law-bred sheep and produces mast lambs.

Politics and functions

Köck has been the district chairman of the farmers' union of the ÖVP Waidhofen an der Thaya since 2002 and in 2008 also became the local party chairman of the ÖVP Thaya . Since February 8, 2008, he has also been the mayor of the municipality. He was sent to the Federal Council on April 24, 2013 by the Lower Austrian state parliament .

He has been a functionary of the State Chamber of Agriculture for Lower Austria for many years and was in the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture for five years . From there he was sent as a representative to the Vienna product exchange, the social insurance benefits committee and hail insurance. Since 2010 he has held the office of chairman of the Waidhofen an der Thaya district chamber of farmers. He has been active in the joint lambs market since 1992 and is chairman of the Lower Austrian Sheep and Goat Exchange and the Austrian Sheep and Goat Exchange, where he co-founded both companies. In addition, since 2009 he has been chairman of the Lower Austrian Sheep and Goat Breeding Association and since 2005 chairman of the Waldviertel initiative. As deputy chairman of the EZG Ecoregion Waldviertel, he worked on marketing strategies.
