Eduard Stöllinger

Eduard "Zapfi" Stöllinger (born November 19, 1948 in Salzburg , † September 16, 2006 in Schwanenstadt , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian motorcycle racer .

Stöllinger was one of the most successful private drivers in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to four national titles in the classes up to 250 cm³ and up to 350 cm³, he won the 1979 World Cup run in the 250cc class at the Belgian Grand Prix .

Stöllinger worked as a technician at Honda Austria and was instrumental in the success of motocrosser Erwin Machtlinger and 125cc European champion Philipp Eitzinger .

On September 16, 2006, the man from Salzburg fell while training for the fifth Oldtimer Grand Prix in Schwanenstadt with his Yamaha TZ 750 and died of his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.
