Eduard Studer

Eduard Studer (born April 1, 1919 in Olten ; † September 21, 1992 in Granges-Paccot ) was a Swiss German studies scholar and professor of German philology at the University of Freiburg in Üechtland .

Act

Studer completed his studies in 1950 as a student of Friedrich Ranke at the University of Basel with a dissertation on the history of science on Leonz Füglistaller, the first Swiss German studies specialist. In 1955 he completed his habilitation at the University of Freiburg im Üechtland, where he taught from 1958 to 1988. He was the first Swiss to hold a Germanic chair at the University of Freiburg in Üechtland.

Studer promoted the activities of the German-Friborg working group, in which he was also involved. Together with Peter Boschung, he developed orthographic rules for writing the Sensler dialect . The naming of the Schiffenensee from 1964 goes back to him . Another focus of his research in the field of medieval literature concerned the subject of Tristan and Isolde .
