Eduard Awtandilowitsch Tjukin ( Russian: Эдуард Автандилович Тюкин ; born May 19, 1978 in Sterlitamak , Bashkiria ) is a former Russian weightlifter , who also started for Kazakhstan for a short time.

Career

Tjukin's international career began in the youth field. In 1994 he started at the European Youth Championships in Ljubljana , where he achieved 230.0 kg (105.0 / 125.0 kg) in the class up to 59 kg and thus won gold in all three disciplines. His next assignment was at the 1997 Junior World Championship in Cape Town . Here he took first place in the duel with 335.0 kg (152.5 / 182.5 kg) in the class up to 83 kg body weight. He was able to repeat this success at the Junior European Championships in Seville with 332.5 kg (152.5 / 180.0 kg).

In 1998 he started at the Junior World Championships in Sofia , where he had to admit defeat for the first time and was relegated to second place with 347.5 kg to 345.0 kg in the light heavyweight up to 85 kg by Sergei Schukow . The following year, Tjukin took part in a senior world championship for the first time. In Athens he reached the 22nd place in a duel with 350.0 kg (160.0 / 190.0 kg). The winner was Shahin Nasirinia from Iran with 390.0 kg.

After that, Tjukin was only used again in international championships in 2004. In preparation for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he competed at the European Championships in Kiev , where he lifted 397.5 kg (180.0 / 217.5 kg) in a duel in the middle heavyweight up to 94 kg and thus silver behind the Bulgarian Milen Dobrew won with 402.5 kg. At the Olympic Games he was able to increase his snatch to 182.5 kg, but failed twice in the jerk at 220.0 kg, which is why only his first attempt with 215.0 kg in the duel rating of 397.5 kg (182.5 / 215 , 0 kg).
