Eduardo Lagos

Eduardo "El Negro" Lagos (born February 18, 1929 in Buenos Aires ; † June 26, 2009 there ) was an Argentine pianist, composer and music critic.

Lagos was a student of the composer Juan Carlos Paz and became familiar with Argentine folklore through Los Hermanos Ábalos . He was the artistic director of Radio Belgrano (1969–71), Radio El Mundo (1972), Radio Municipal (1983–86) and Radio Nacional (1987–88) and worked as a critic for pop music, folklore and tango for the magazines La Prensa , Folklore , Gente and Atlántida .

In addition to six of his own albums, Lagos made numerous recordings with other musicians such as Astor Piazzolla , Hugo Díaz , Domingo Cura , Carlos Franzetti , Jaime Torres and Mercedes Sosa . He served as a juror at music festivals, and his compositions were among others. a. Performed and recorded by Astor Piazzolla, Domingo Cura and Mercedes Sosa. He was awarded a Premio Konex twice (1995 and 2005) . In addition to his musical activities, Lagos worked as an ophthalmologist for almost fifty years.
