Eduardo Robles Gil Orvañanos

Eduardo Robles Gil Orvañanos LC (born September 18, 1952 in Mexico City , Mexico ) is a Catholic religious and since 2014 Superior General of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ (LC) .

Life

Eduardo Robles Gil joined the Regnum Christi Apostolic Work and became a consecrated lay member in 1975. In 1977 he joined the religious order of the Legionaries of Christ and studied theology and philosophy in Rome. In 1983 he was ordained a priest in Mexico City. After pastoral activities in Spain, Brazil and Mexico, he was director of the religious schools in Mexico and territorial director of the order in Mexico. He was a co-founder of the religious office and the Regnum Christi in Brazil.

In January 2011 he was called by Cardinal Velasio De Paolis CS, Apostolic Visitator of the Order of the Legionaries of Christ, to be a member of the Committee on Public Relations for Victims of Abuse by the founder of the Legionaries of Christ, Marcial Maciel. In August 2013 he assumed the position of Regional Director in Mexico by being appointed Pro-General Secretary with the consent of the Papal Delegate.

On January 20, 2014, the Ordinary General Chapter of the Congregation elected him General Director of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ (term of office 6 years). The order and the administration are supervised by the Roman Curia .
