Eduardo Valdatti
Eduardo Antonio " Che " Valdatti († April 30, 1990 in Guadalajara , Mexico ), also known by the nickname El Viejo (the old man), was a Mexican football player and coach of Argentine origin. The trained defender celebrated his greatest successes as coach of the Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara .
biography
From the data of his career received for posterity, it can be understood that the native Argentine was under contract with Club Atlético Atlanta in his prime , for which he played 138 games and scored one goal in the Argentine Primera División between 1936 and 1942 .
He then probably moved to the Newell's Old Boys before signing a contract with the Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara .
With Atlas he won the Copa México and then the Supercup in 1946 as a player- coach . After the early end of his active career, he stayed with the Rojinegros for years as a coach and won the Mexican cup competition with them again in 1950 and the only championship title in their club's history in 1951 . Both successes were followed by winning the Supercup. His most disappointing year as a coach was the 1953/54 season, at the end of which he was relegated to the second division with the Atlantistas for the first time in their club's history .
After working as a trainer, he was an important member of the junior division of Atlas Guadalajara and later in the junior division of the Leones Negros de la UdeG .

- ↑ On page 399 of the second volume of the Libro de Oro del Fútbol Mexicano (B. Costa-Amic, Mexico City, 1961), Juan Cid y Mulet writes that Valdatti switched from NOB to Atlas. There he probably did not move before the introduction of the Mexican professional league in the 1943/44 season, so it can be assumed that he played for Newell's Old Boys at least in the 1943 season.
