The film tells the story of Professor Baltasar, who falls in love with one of his students and wants to marry her. Your father sets two conditions for this connection. On the one hand Baltasar should be rich and on the other hand he should introduce her parents to his. But he is not rich and was raised by a foster father. But all of a sudden a multitude of couples appear who claim to be his parents. This happens because Baltasar's foster father was a villain who introduced him as their son to all couples who had left children with him, as the other children died of neglect.

The production company Tufic Yazbek-Oro Sayeg-Tufic Sayeg was responsible for shooting the film. Yo soy tu padre was the debut film by Juan Bustillo Oro, which was to make successful and important films, especially during the golden era of Mexican cinema. The plot is based on a novel by Maurice Leblanc .
