Eduardo Vilches (born April 21, 1963 in Colina ), also known by the nickname Lalo , is a former Chilean football player on the position of defender .

Life

As a child, Vilches completed trial training at the capital city clubs CF Universidad de Chile and Unión Española before he was accepted into the junior division of CD Magallanes in 1979 at the age of 16 . He received his first adult contract in 1981 with Malleco Unido . He returned to Magallanes three years later, before joining the CD Universidad Católica in 1987 , with which he won the Chilean football championship for the first time that year .

In 1989 he switched to the Chilean record champion Colo-Colo , with whom he not only won four championship titles and twice the Chilean cup competition between 1989 and 1994 , but also celebrated the greatest successes in the club's history on an international level: in 1991, for the only time so far, the Copa Libertadores won and in 1992 the victories in the Recopa Sudamericana and the Copa Interamericana followed .

In mid-1994 Vilches moved to the Mexican Club Necaxa , with which he won three championship titles as well as the cup competition and the Supercup once .

After his time with the Necaxistas he returned to his homeland and ended his active career in the service of CD Cobreloa .

Between 1990 and 1996 Vilches completed a total of 30 missions for the Chilean national team .

After his active career, Vilches worked as a manager at the Mexican capital club Cruz Azul .
