Edward A. Holyoke (anatomist)

Edward Augustus Holyoke (born March 10, 1908 in Madrid , Perkins County (Nebraska) , † August 20, 2001 in Scottsbluff ) was an American doctor, anatomist and professor at the University of Nebraska .

Holyoke studied at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and obtained a BS in 1930 and MS in 1932 with a thesis on the development of the spleen . He then worked as an anatomy instructor, earning an MD in 1934 and a Ph.D. in 1938. In 1946 he was appointed professor of anatomy. From 1960 to 1973 Holyoke was chairman of the Anatomical Institute. In 1983 he retired and in 1995 he finally retired.

Together with Paul J. Gardner , Holyoke was the first to recognize the fine structure of the blood-testicle barrier .
