Edward Burnell, 1st Baron Burnell

Edward Burnell, 1st Baron Burnell (* around 1282, † 1315 ) was an English nobleman.

Edward Burnell was a son of Sir Philip Burnell and Maud FitzAlan. His father was a nephew of the royal chancellor Robert Burnell , Bishop of Bath and Wells and one of the most influential counselors to King Edward I. After Robert Burnell's death in 1292, Edward's father had inherited an extensive estate with 82 estates, but he died in 1294 he owed his underage son considerable debt. On December 6, 1307 Burnell was allowed to inherit. After May 3, 1302, he had married Aline le Despenser, a daughter of Baron Hugh le Despenser and his wife Isabella de Beauchamp . Burnell served as a military in the Scottish War of Independence . On December 19, 1311 he was called to Parliament as Baron Burnell , but he died childless in 1315. His title expired with his death. His heiress became his sister Maud Burnell .
