Edward FitzClarence, 6th Earl of Munster

Edward Charles FitzClarence, 6th Earl of Munster (born October 3, 1899 , † 1983 ) was a British peer .

Life

He was the son of Brigadier General Charles FitzClarence from his marriage to Violet Spencer-Churchill. He was thus a second cousin of Winston Churchill .

He attended Eton College at Windsor and the Royal Military College at Sandhurst, and then served as a captain in the Irish Guards .

When his childless second cousin Geoffrey FitzClarence, 5th Earl of Munster died , he inherited his title as 6th Earl of Munster and the associated seat in the House of Lords .

Marriages and offspring

On July 30, 1925, he married Monica Sheila Harrington Grayson, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Sir Henry Grayson, 1st Baronet and Dora Beatrice Harrington. In 1930 they got divorced again.

On September 28, 1939, he married Vivian Scholfield, daughter of Benjamin Scholfield, for the second time.

From his first marriage to Monica Sheila Haarington Grayson, he had two children:

  • Anthony FitzClarence (1926–2000), later 7th and last Earl of Munster
  • Lady Jill Mary FitzClarence (* 1928)
