Edward Hartwig (born September 6, 1909 in Moscow , † October 28, 2003 in Warsaw , Poland ) is one of the most important Central European and Polish photographers of the 20th century.

Life

Edward Hartwig, who was born in Moscow in 1909, grew up in Lublin and studied photography with Rudolf Koppitz in Vienna . He worked mainly in Warsaw and had close contacts with artists such as Tadeusz Kantor and Henryk Berlewi . The album "Fotografika" was published in different languages ​​and brought him international recognition. A large number of exhibitions in Europe and overseas followed. Hartwig is a founding member of the Polish Art Photographers Association (ZPAF). Edward Hartwig's estate is exclusively owned by Gaiser & Cie. represented in Frankfurt am Main.
