Edward Bishop, Baron Bishopston
Edward Stanley Bishop , Baron Bishopston (born October 3, 1920 in Bristol , † April 19, 1984 in Tiverton ) was a British politician and belonged to the Labor Party .
Live and act
After attending South Bristol Central School and Merchant Venturers' Technical College , Bishop graduated from Bristol University . He became an aircraft designer.
On his political career, Bishop led three unsuccessful parliamentary election campaigns, where he ran in 1950 for Bristol West, 1951 for Exeter and 1955 for South Gloucestershire. From 1964 to 1979 he was a member of the Lower House for the Newark constituency . During this period he served as deputy executive director of the ruling party from 1966 to 1967 and as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1974 to 1979. In 1979 he lost his seat in parliament to the conservative Richard Alexander .
On May 21, 1981, Bishop was raised to the nobility as a Life Peer with the title Baron Bishopston , of Newark in the County of Nottinghamshire . He died in Tiverton, Devon in 1984 at the age of 63.
