Edward Włodarczyk

Edward Włodarczyk (born October 5, 1946 in Gilów near Strzelce Krajeńskie , Poland) is a Polish historian . He has been the rector of the University of Szczecin since 2012 .

Life

Edward Włodarczyk attended school in Drezdenko and completed a master's degree from 1964 to 1969 at the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan . In 1969 he became an employee of the Institute for Polish History of the Polish Academy of Sciences ( PAN ) in Szczecin. In 1977 he received his doctorate in Poznan and in 1988 he also completed his habilitation at the Poznan University of Applied Sciences. The following year, Edward Włodarczyk became the head of the Pomeranian History Department in Szczecin and remained in this position until 1992, when he was employed as a lecturer for the Early Modern Period at the University of Szczecin. From 1996 to 2002 he was dean of the Faculty of History. During this time he was also awarded the title of professor (1999) and in 2001 he was appointed full professor. From 2002 to 2008 Edward Włodarczyk was director of the Institute for History and International Relations and then Vice-Rector of Szczecin University. In 2012 he was elected rector of the university, and after his four-year term of office he successfully stood for re-election.
