The Egelsee is a heavily silted Kleinsee in the nature reserve Babenstubener Moore (NSG 00325.01). The lake is completely overgrown with reeds and has no open water surface. The drainage path cannot be clearly assigned, but runs either over the Breitenbach or the Tegernseebach to the Loisach.
The lake can be reached via a forest path from the hamlet of Babenstuben approx. 1.5 km to the south.
