Egon Berchter (born November 22, 1928 in Oberhausen-Eisenheim ) is a German welfare official, particularly in the area of ​​assistance and support for people with intellectual disabilities. Among other things, he received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1996.

Life

Berchter trained as an industrial clerk; from 1982 to 1991 he was department manager / authorized signatory at MAN . He is married and has three children. His son Ulrich (1956–2011) had Down syndrome .
