Egon Schunck

Egon Schunck (born December 11, 1890 in Bonn ; † January 2, 1981 ) was a German lawyer and judge of the Federal Constitutional Court from 1952 to 1963 .

Life

Egon Schunck was a son of the secret government and provincial school councilor Dr. Egon Schunck and Christine Schunck b. Grebel. After attending grammar school in Bonn, Sigmaringen and Koblenz, he studied law and political science in Freiburg, Geneva, Munich and Bonn. He passed the first state examination in law on July 24, 1914. He took part in the First World War as an officer. He then completed his legal clerkship in Boppard, Cologne and Koblenz. In 1920 he was awarded a doctorate by Eduard Hubrich at Greifswald University. jur. PhD. In 1926/27 he was district administrator in Westerburg and, during the time of National Socialism, a senior administrative judge. After the Second World War he belonged to the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate and later became a judge at the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate . Due to his election by the Federal Council from September 13, 1952 to August 31, 1963, he was a member of the Second Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court as the successor to Judge Claus Leusser . He had no successor because the number of judges per Senate was reduced from ten to eight in 1963.
