Egon Zahlmann (born December 24, 1928 ) was a football player in Wismar . For the company sports community (BSG) Motor Wismar , he played in 1951/52 in the GDR Oberliga , the highest East German football class.

Athletic career

Zahlmann belonged to the squad of BSG Anker Wismar, which was newly founded in 1950, which took the place of ZSG Anker, who had been relegated from the upper league, in the second-class GDR league in the 1950/51 season. His first league game played Zahlmann on September 24, 1950, the 4th game day. In the encounter between Anker Wismar and SG Hohenschönhausen (4-0), he was called up as a center forward and scored his first goal with the final goal. Of the 16 played point games, he completed ten games and scored two goals. During the season he was later used as a right runner . In this position, Zahlmann also played in the playoff for the league promotion against the tied SG Volkspolizei Potsdam. Anker Wismar won 2-1 in front of 6,500 spectators in Stendal and thus achieved an immediate return to first class.

In the league season 1951/1952, Zahlmann was part of the regular Wismar squad, who had changed their name again and were now playing as BSG Motor Wismar. Zahlmann finally established himself in the right midfield and played 34 of the 36 completed league games, in which he scored four goals. As in 1949/50, the Wismar team could only fight to stay in the league, but after 22 defeats they had to relegate to the second division again.

In his second GDR league season in 1952/53, Zahlmann was only used in 15 of 24 point games, played alternately in attack and midfield and only scored two point goals. Motor Wismar reached the end of the season, clearly lagging behind, only second place behind the season winner Einheit Ost Leipzig and thus missed the promotion. For the GDR league season 1953/54 Zahlmann was again intended for the BSG Motor line-up, but like his teammate Klaus Fick he only played the first three point games and later did not appear in the Wismar team.

In four seasons, Zahlmann had played 62 point games for Wismar and had scored eight goals.
