Egon from Kapherr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Egon Georg Freiherr von Kapherr , also Kap-herr , (born October 30, 1877 in Bärenklause , † September 10, 1935 in Greifswald ) was a German writer and chief forester.

Life

He came from the noble family of Kap-herr and was born as the son of the manor owner Hermann Freiherr von Kap-herr in the Kingdom of Saxony . His mother was Alma Freiin von Kap-herr née von Kruedener.

Egon's father died in 1885, whereupon his mother sold the Bärenklause manor and moved back to Livonia with her son Egon . In the Baltic States, Egon developed his love for hunting and nature. He attended high school and a forest school. He later worked as a forester and farmer in Livonia, most recently as a chief forester. In Altwarp in Pomerania he sat down to rest. In his spare time he worked as a writer of popular scientific forest and hunting books. Some of these were published after his death until the 1960s. His trips to Siberia with his friend, Prince Japaridze, fascinated him so much that in later years he founded a fishing company in north-western Siberia.
