The former railway bridge is a railway bridge over the Darmbach in Darmstadt .
Construction and history
The one-bay sandstone bridge over the Darmbach , which has now been walled up, dates back to the construction time of the Main-Rhine Railway around 1857 and is the oldest existing railway bridge in Darmstadt.
As a technical monument, it is a reminder of the traffic engineering development of Darmstadt in the 19th century and the connection of the city to the international rail network.
Monument protection
The building stands as a typical example of the technique of the 1850s in Darmstadt as a cultural monument by the Hessian Denkmalschutzgesetz under monument protection .
