The badge of honor for seriously injured in the war 1915-1918 was an award of the Kingdom of Italy , which in the course of the First World War by decree by King Victor Emanuel III. was donated by Italy . The award was given to all those members of the Italian armed forces who were seriously injured or damaged by the loss of one or more limbs during the course of the First World War.

The silver badge with a height of approx. 35 mm and a width of 30 mm has the shape of an irregular shield in the middle of which the inscription: MUTILATO IN GUERRA 1915-18 (Mutilation in War) can be read on a medallion . There are also examples known with the year 1915-16 or 1915-17 . This medallion is enclosed by two branches, the left of which is a laurel branch and the right an oak branch. Your lower cross point is held together by the coat of arms of Italy with a royal crown. Between its upper halves is a five-pointed star with outgoing rays. The back, on the other hand, is smooth and has a horizontally soldered needle with a counter-hook. This badge was worn like the German wound badge on the left breast pocket of the borrower.
