Medal of Honor of the Air War School 3
The Medal of Honor of Air War School 3 was a non-bearable award of the German Air Force during the Second World War , which was awarded by Colonel Nikolaus Graf von Luckner during his time in command of Air War School 3 in Wildpark-Werder from August 5, 1940 to September 23, 1943. The school had already started school in 1939.
The copper-colored medal with a diameter of 53 mm shows the sovereign eagle of the Luftwaffe in the middle of its obverse, which holds a swastika in its claws in front of a semicircular grained ground and the inscription created in fractal writing: Luftkriegsschule-3 . The lower half of the obverse is separated from the upper part by a horizontal bar and shows the inscription: Werder aH as well as an empty area underneath on which the name of the recipient and his affiliation to the air warfare school was engraved. The reverse of the medal is smooth and shows in its upper half the signature of the founder of the medal in facsimile as well as the rank of colonel and commander engraved below .
