The badge of honor of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for special merits in voluntary work has been awarded since 2013 for voluntary work in local self-government or for participation in organizations with cultural or social goals in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The award is given to citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania through many years of voluntary work for the common good.

People who have been active in local politics for at least ten years or have volunteered in non-profit associations with cultural, sporting or social goals or in the church sector are also eligible for the badge of honor . Activities in different areas and at different times can be added together.

Type of award

The silver-plated badge is round with a diameter of 18 mm and shows the large state coat of arms with the circumferential lettering For special merits in honorary office - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The decree on the foundation of the badge of honor does not contain any regulation on the design of a ribbon buckle . According to the suit regulations of the Bundeswehr , the miniature of the badge of honor would have to be attached to a black background.

The awards take place annually on December 5th, International Volunteer Day.

Right of proposal

The members of the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are entitled to make nominations for the award . Citizens can send suggestions for awarding the badge of honor to those entitled to make proposals.
