A miniature model is a replica of a real object or an object based on reality on a reduced scale .

The scale is given in ratios (e.g. 1: 1000) or in mm (e.g. 25 mm). The millimeter data then relate to the distance foot - eye of an average human model.

Miniatures are often used in the leisure sector : Examples are dollhouses , model railways with a corresponding model landscape, dioramas as display items or tabletops as a complex variant of the board game . The latter variant is also represented by reenacting historical battles . Due to the two world wars , this shape was initially out of fashion. However , the popularity of miniature games has grown again over the fantasy genre.

Miniatures are often cast . Thereby have Enforced tin , bronze or certain alloys of tin , plastic or lead .
