Roll of honor
A conspicuous inscription is called a roll of honor , with which the memory of deserving people or particularly important events is kept alive. Plaques of honor are usually attached to public buildings, churches or old town houses, often also at the homes of famous artists or at the location of a striking event.
Plaques of honor can also be found on war memorials of the two world wars or regional wars of liberation, usually with the names of the fallen or the military units involved.
Commemorative or photo plaques of associations or personalities are also often attached in the dining rooms of traditional restaurants, albeit in a more modest version. Occasionally, awards also bear the designation "Honor Roll".
