Ehrhard Behrends

Ehrhard Behrends (* 1946 ) is a German mathematician and retired professor.

Life

Behrends received his doctorate in 1970 under Gerd Wittstock at the Free University of Berlin (characterization of simplexes through continuation and lifting properties).

From 1973 to 2014 he was a professor at the Free University of Berlin , with a particular interest in functional analysis and probability theory .

In 2008/09 he organized a mathematics exhibition with Hadwig Dorsch at the German Museum of Technology in Berlin .

He has authored several popular science books on mathematics and had a column in the world : Five Minutes of Mathematics .
