Location of Eichenstruth in Rhineland-Palatinate |
Eichenstruth is a district of Bad Marienberg . On June 7, 1969, the previously independent community Eichenstruth (185 inhabitants) was incorporated into Bad Marienberg (Westerwald).
The place with 408 inhabitants (as of January 2006) is west of Bad Marienberg on a plateau above the Schorrberg . On the Schorrberg there is a ski slope with a lift and snow cannons.
Eichenstruth was as part of the Westerwald lignite mining area mining area of brown coal . After the mining activities stopped, agriculture was the only remaining livelihood. In the 1990s, an industrial area was developed whose area exceeded that of the town and the town was newly connected to the L295 with the construction of the K 59 district road. As a result, the place grew significantly.
