Eichstadt is an impact crater on the extreme western edge of the front of the moon in the mountain range of the Montes Cordillera , north of the Krasnov crater and southwest of Darwin . The edge of the crater is hardly eroded, has pronounced terracing and inside there is a divided central massif .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after German physician and astronomer Lorenz Eichstaedt .
