Darwin is an impact crater on the front of the moon west of Mare Humorum , southwest of Crüger crater and northwest of Byrgius . The rim of the crater has been severely eroded and has almost completely disappeared in the southern part. The interior is traversed by the lunar groove system of the Rimae Darwin .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British naturalist Charles Darwin .
