Federal Song Festival 1852

The 5th Federal Singers' Festival took place on July 11th and 12th, 1852 in Basel . A total of 1400 singers took part in 40 clubs, and the Société chorale de Strasbourg was the first visiting club from France.

The festival was organized by the Basel men's choir founded in 1826. The singing performances were carried out in the Basel Minster .

The later federal judge Karl Johann Brenner acted as the festival president . The president of the jury was the composer Franz Xaver Schnyder von Wartensee , the festival director of the overall performance was the Basel conductor Ernst Reiter .
