Eigelstein was a German independent music label that existed in Cologne between 1979 and 1988 .

history

"Eigelstein Musikproduktion GmbH" was founded in 1979 by Wolfgang Hamm. She claimed to publish “committed, independent, original, reality-related music” on the Eigelstein label (and its sister label Riskant ). In addition to Hamm, Büdi Siebert worked as a producer for the label.

Eigelstein released the BAP albums Wolfgang Niedecken's BAP rockt Andere kölsche Leeder (1979) and Affjetaut (1980), as well as recordings by Maren Kroymann , Juan José Mosalini and the Brokdorf cantata by Peter Paul Zahl and Thomas Rabenschlag . In 1985 the label released recordings of the WDR that were made in December 1984 in a water storage tank that was empty due to repair work (with enormous reverberation times): Before the flood ; Musicians from different genres such as Dario Domingues , Conny Bauer , Pauline Oliveros , Christian Bollmann and the Cologne Saxophone Mafia were involved in the album . Yarınistan's debut album , perhaps , released there , received the German Record Critics' Prize . Geula Gal-Ed also sang Yiddish songs, accompanied by the Cologne Klezmer Project .

The Riskant label was intended for more experimental sounds. There Cassiber , the Duo Heiner Goebbels / Alfred Harth , The Honeymoon Killers , Einstürzende Neubauten , Rolf Riehm and the Cologne Wind Orchestra released Thick Air . Joachim Ernst Berendt's production Bertolt Brecht: Time is running out with Goebbels / Harth and Dagmar Krause also appeared there; World music live recordings from the SWF Jazz Meeting 1984 , on the other hand, were found in the Eigelstein label's catalog .
