affjetaut ( Kölsch for "defrosted") is the second album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released in 1980 by Eigelstein Records and reached number eleven on the German album charts.

Emergence

All songs on the album were written by the singer Wolfgang Niedecken and the guitarist and songwriter Klaus "Major" Heuser , who joined BAP in 1980 , who took over the musical direction of the band and whose rock-heavy influence is evident here for the first time. Shortly before production of the album began in October 1980, there had been many personnel changes in the band, which also shaped the style of the record. As a guest musician, Matthias Keul played keyboard instruments and harmonica on Vun mir uss Kitsch ; Büdi Siebert played the saxophone. While the first album was still being produced in Cologne, affjetaut was created in October 1980 in the Sunrise Studios in Kirchberg SG (Switzerland).

Songs and album art

The first songs are mostly rocky, the opener Ne Schöne Jrooß is still played at BAP concerts today and has become one of the band classics. The strongly to Bob Dylan's Ballad of a Thin Man ajar ess Wat? tells of intrusive reporters, while Stollwerck-Leed expresses criticism of the city of Cologne's redevelopment policy with reference to the Stollwerck occupation. Anna tells of a “strange woman” with a relaxed percussion background , and Häng de Fahneruss is about the joy of the return of a love that was believed to be lost and is a rock 'n' roll song with a saxophone solo.

Nobody can help you is a guitar-heavy, thoughtful ballad, while the Ruut-wieß-blau querjestriefte woman is also a fun title played at BAP concerts to this day. This is followed by Vun mir uss Kitsch , also a guitar ballad. The gloomy Kumm op ming Sick is rock again with distorted guitars and the final song Pardong is a fun song in a quieter, easy listening style with saxophone and keyboard and background music made up of bar noises. On the black cover you can see a garbage can, a stove with a coffee pot on it and an open refrigerator.
