Comics & Pin-ups is the eleventh studio album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released by EMI Electrola in 1999 and reached number 1 in the German album charts for one week (February 5 - February 11, 1999) .

With comics & pin-ups , BAP reached number 1 in the German album charts for the first time since album X for 'e U (1990). Compared to the previous album America there was a change in personnel: Sheryl Hackett took over the job of percussionist for Mario Argandoña .

Songs and album art

The song Hück ess sing Band en der Stadt is about the Cologne sports hall that was demolished in the 1990s and describes Wolfgang Niedecken's memories of the events held there. In the book Song By Song , Wolfgang Niedecken says about the song: “I wrote the piece when it was clear that it would be torn down, which I still regret today. I still mourn it because it was a wonderful hall size. Then of course I also saw everyone in the gym except the Beatles. For me, the entire rock'n'roll story took place in the Cologne sports hall. I saw all of my heroes there: Hendrix, Who, Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum. When the hall no longer exists, at least a memorial stone could be put up. After all, it's a piece of cultural history. Signs are also attached to old half-timbered houses when a famous composer has slept there for a night. “ Widder su 'ne Sonndaachmorje describes the emotional state of a prisoner and the senselessness of everyday life; The title of the album comes from this song: "Comics un pin-ups, en lacquered concrete wall un en sun uss neon, ... ejal." (German: "Comics and pin-ups, a lacquered concrete wall and a sun made of neon, … no matter."). For a moment the song is a homage to the language of the band Kölsch as well as the band's early history.

The album cover shows, like a comic, a kind of female "Tarzan" swinging over the roofs of a big city on a crane, while a male "Jane" hangs from her neck and looks fearfully into the depths. On the inlay of the CD is "the anniversary album" and is intended to remind of the 20 years since the first album was released ... rocks other Cologne Leeder .

The album tour began on April 19, 1999.
