America is the tenth studio album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released by EMI Electrola in 1996 and reached number 2 on the German album charts .

With America , a new studio album did not reach number 1 in the German album charts for the second time since the band's breakthrough in 1982. With almost exactly three years since the last studio album Pik Sibbe , fans had to wait longer than ever for a new BAP studio album. For the first time since the album Da Capo (1988) there were personnel changes again. Mario Argandoña played the percussion for founding member Manfred “Schmal” Boecker. Werner Kopal replaced Steve Borg on bass. Jens Streifling joined the group as the eighth member of the band on saxophone and guitar. Streifling had already worked on Wolfgang Niedecken's solo project “Leopard Skin” a year earlier.

America was the first BAP album that was no longer released on vinyl , which allowed a total playing time of around 75 minutes.
