Da Capo is the seventh studio album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released in 1988 by EMI Electrola and was number 1 in the German album charts for a total of five weeks, from September 16 to October 20, 1988 .

background

Over two years after the previous studio album, Da Capo was a comeback for BAP. Both with the album and with the first single to be continued , a top ten place was reached. Due to the death of the drummer Pete King , a change in the line-up was necessary. Jürgen Zöller, who had previously played for Wolf Maahn, was hired as the new drummer . After internal quarrels during the production of the previous album Ahl Männer, aalglatt , which almost led to the end of BAP, Da Capo was again produced entirely in-house. They went to the ICP studio in Brussels for the recordings .

content

City in No Man's Land is about the relationship of the singer Wolfgang Niedecken to his hometown Cologne and criticizes its urban planning . To be continued follows the lack of prospects for young unemployed people and the 'hanging out' until the next appointment at the employment office . In Shanghai , the impressions of the China tour are processed based on a painting bought there . Ob dä Lid vum Clown is a cover version of Death of a Clown by Dave Davies . Rääts un links vum Bahndamm describes the night train journey of a man who is still mentally with his loved one and yesterday's night together. Sandino deals with the conditions in Nicaragua and is the result of Wolfgang Niedecken's solo appearances with the band “Complizen” in the country torn by civil war a year earlier. Dat däät joot is a love song similar to Jraaduss and Do kanns magic . The season of the container is in the tradition of Südstadt verzäll nix and Stollwerck Leed and describes the negative changes in his home town , the Cologne Südstadt, from Wolfgang Niedecken's point of view . Fleeting is dedicated to the late drummer Pete King.
