Tonfilm is the twelfth studio album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released by EMI Electrola in 1999 and reached number 2 on the German album charts .

In the booklet accompanying the CD, Wolfgang Niedecken wrote that Chapter III of the BAP band's history began with sound film . After the exit of the guitarist Klaus “Major” Heuser, the keyboardist Axel “Effendi” Büchel and the sound engineer Hans “Fonz” Wollrath and after completing the comics & pin-ups tour , the orphaned places became with Helmut Krumminga on guitar and Michael Nass new staff on the keyboard instruments.

The tour for the album began on November 20, 1999 and took place exclusively in halls with chairs. BAP played for the first time in front of a seated audience.

Songs

Eight of the 17 songs on sound film are new recordings of songs that have already appeared on previous BAP albums in a new arrangement. Ne Schöne Jrooss and Ruut, wiess, blau, querjestriefte Frau come from the album Affjetaut (1980), whereby Ne Schöne Jrooss has been shortened by the last verse ( Orwells '84 ) in the new version for reasons of topicality .

Jupp and Müsli Mann were originally on Für usszeschnigge! (1981), while Nemm mich met comes from the first live album Bess demnähx and was recorded here for the first time in a studio version . Diss After it's all in is from the album Zwesche Salzjebäck un Bier (1984), Wat, usser Rock 'n' Roll? by X for 'e U (1990) and Asphalt Pirates of America (1996).

Vum thunderende Lääve is a cover version of Vom thundernden Leben by Wolf Biermann . The rest of the songs are new, with Where do you improve now? is a holdover from the previous album's sessions.
