The fairy tale of the pulled plug is the sixth live album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released in 2014 by Vertigo / Capitol as a 2-CD box and as a limited deluxe edition with an additional DVD. The album is the first since the band switched to Universal and the first since the very first studio album Wolfgang Niedecken's BAP rocks other kölsche Leeder , which was released under the band name Niedeckens BAP . It is also the first live album that was not released after a studio album, and the first live album by BAP since Bess demnähx , which was number 1 in the German album charts.

The songs on the CDs were recorded on April 22nd to 24th, 2014 during the “BAP pulls the plug” tour 2014 in the Cologne Philharmonic. The band had long had the idea of ​​going on tour with acoustic instruments. After Wolfgang Niedecken recorded the quieter solo album Zosamme old after his stroke in November 2011 , the decision was made to actually go on such a tour. The percussionist Rhani Krija was invited as an additional musician for the tour . He had already worked on several BAP productions in recent years. Since Helmut Krumminga could not take part in the tour for family reasons, the guitarist Ulrich Rode stepped in for him.

The songs are all BAP's own compositions except for the medley from Alles wat ich zo jähn wöhr (originally by Bob Dylan ) and Twist and Shout , the last song before the usual break on this tour. Text versions of the songs Neppes, Ihrfeld un Kreuzberg and Anna were also performed during the tour .

The DVD of the limited deluxe edition includes photographs of the encores at the concerts in Cologne, Bonn and Hilchenbach , a recording of the broken appearance of the band on the Birlikte -Kundgebung on 9 June 2014 in Cologne and a recording of the subsequent thunderstorm.

Guest musician

As a guest, Julian Dawson played the harmonica on several songs in the Cologne Philharmonic. The percussionist Sönke Reich represented Rhani Krija at some concerts during the tour. He can be heard on the recording of Kristallnaach and on the DVD as a percussionist in four out of six songs in the encores and in the Birligte performance.
