Jens Streifling (born April 30, 1966 in Borna ) is a German musician and multi-instrumentalist . He became better known as a saxophonist and songwriter with the rock group BAP and since 2003 as a member of the Cologne dialect music group Höhner .

biography

Jens Streifling spent his childhood and youth in Kitzscher in the Leipzig district . With eight years learned Streifling from his clarinet teacher, Mr. Roscher from the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig , the clarinet . Other instruments followed shortly afterwards. He gained his first musical experience from 1976 to 1981 in the youth orchestra of VEB Braunkohleveredlung Espenhain . During this time Streifling switched to blues harp and guitar . Bob Dylan was one of his early influences .

In 1981 he founded the school band "Schulrock", which was later renamed P 16 . The band won u. a. the advancement award of the Central Council of the FDJ and the 3rd Young Talent Award 1986 of the New Life publishing house . The title P 16 appeared in 1985 on Amiga , the GDR record label, on the compilation Auf dem Weg 4 . From 1984 Streifling also played in the band Zebra , with whom he recorded Zebra live rock with Brecht / Weill songs and ballads in 1987 . Streifling got out at P 16 in 1986 and shortly afterwards also ended his career at Zebra.

In 1988 Streifling applied for an exit visa and in 1989 left the GDR with his family. He settled in Cologne and initially worked as a guest musician at folk music events and at theaters. As a tour musician he accompanied Pankow , LSE and Viva la Diva . He was later to be heard with Pankow on the CD Vierer Pack (1994).

In 1992 he took part in the Cologne campaign Ass huh, Zäng ussenander , where he met Wolfgang Niedecken . This involved him in the Leopardefell project , which recorded an album. In 1996 Streifling became a permanent member of BAP as a saxophonist. During this time he also played as a session member for Udo Lindenberg and Guildo Horn .

In 2000 his first solo release appeared, the soundtrack for the film Hailife der Kölner Haie . In 2002 he left BAP and published his solo project streifling! so far one CD and one single. In 2003 he also joined the Cologne band Höhner. In 2005 the CD Hossa mein kleine Leben by the band Bleibende Schaeden was released . In addition to several instruments, Streifling was also responsible as a music producer .

Jens Streifling is trained in a variety of instruments. In addition to his main instruments, the saxophone and guitar, he plays the piano , harmonica , drums , bass , mandolin and clarinet .

Streifling has three grown sons from his first marriage. He has been married again since June 2018 and has a daughter (* 2018).
