(1991)

X for 'e U ( Kölsch for "X for a U") is the eighth studio album by the Cologne rock band BAP . It was released by EMI Electrola in 1990 and was number one in the German album charts for a week from November 23 to December 2, 1990 .

As with its predecessor, BAP went back to the ICP studio in Brussels for the recordings . But this time the production was not completely self-directed, but with the help of the sound engineer Phil Delire.

content

In contrast to the two previous albums, the pieces on X for 'e U were musically more varied. So the typical BAP mix of rock songs like Denn mer sinn widder wer , Vis à Vis , Happy End , Wat, usser Rock'n'Roll? and Domohls , as well as the ballads Alles em Lot , Sie määt süchtig and Griefbar noh , supplemented by bluesy tones in Bleifooss , a pinch of Bob Dylan including harmonica in Freio and the very orchestral Land en sight . Despite many rock songs, the album sounds keyboard-heavy compared to previous BAP albums.

The texts also have a rather positive tone and deal mainly with interpersonal and everyday matters. This is especially true in love songs like you become addicted to hearing. Only because mer sinn aries who takes a critical look at the emerging national consciousness of the Germans with German unity. In the songs ( Land en Sicht , Wat, usser Rock'n'Roll? ) Wolfgang Niedecken again works on the separation from his wife Carmen. Especially the first single Alles em Lot draws a conciliatory line there.

X-for-EU tour 1990/91

The 1991 tour was also carried out in several parts. Shortly after the completion of German unity, the band's first concerts in the former GDR were on the program in January 1991. Then BAP went on a club tour in West Germany and made a number of appearances in a quiet setting, mostly in small halls. The concert in Cologne's E-Werk was recorded and later on the album ... affrocke !! released.

In May and June 1991 a tour followed exclusively through the largest German concert halls and at various open-air festivals. Julian Dawson appeared as a guest at the concerts .
