NS Manju ( Nanjangud Shivananju Manju ; born May 9, 1987 in Nanjangud , Karnataka ) is an Indian football player . He has been under contract with Mohun Bagan AC in the I-League , the top Indian division, since 2007 .

Career

Manju began his career in 2003 in the I-League Second Division at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited SC , for whose team the defender was under contract until 2004, after which he moved to Mahindra United in the top Indian division for three years . In the 2005/06 season he was Indian champion with Mahindra. In 2007 he transferred to league rivals Mohun Bagan AC , for whose team he has been playing since then.

In 2009 he received the FPAI Awards for Best Player in India, along with Sunil Chhetri and Anthony Pereira .

National team

Since 2005 Manju has been in the squad of the Indian national soccer team since the tour of the national team in Pakistan . He won the Nehru Cup 2007 with his national team . After an injury to the Achilles tendon in the South Asian Football Federation Cup, he was unable to take part in the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup , which India won and thus qualified for the 2011 Asian Football Championship . He also took part in the training camp for the Nehru Cup 2009 in Barcelona in 2009 , but immediately in the first game against Lebanon he was seriously injured and had to go to the rest of the Nehru Cup 2009, the IFA Shield, the Durand Cup and the Federations Forego the cup.

So far, he has played 21 international matches and scored two goals.
