Eiji Morioka ( Japanese 森岡 栄 治 , Morioka Eiji , born June 8, 1946 in Taishō-ku , Osaka , Japan ; † November 9, 2004 ) was a Japanese bantamweight boxer.
career
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , he won the bronze medal in the bantamweight division . In the semifinals he was defeated by Valery Sokolov from the Soviet Union on points.
His professional career, which began in 1969, only lasted ten fights. His attempt to become Japanese bantamweight champion failed in July 1970 at Shintaro Uchiyama . After another defeat in September, Morioka retired from boxing.
