Eike Duckwitz

Eike Duckwitz (born May 29, 1980 in Hamburg ) is a former German hockey player who became world champion in 2006.

Career

Eike Duckwitz began his career at THC Neumünster . He later moved to the 1st HTC HTC and from there to Uhlenhorster HC in Hamburg, with whom he became German indoor hockey champion in 2002. In 2004 the club took second place in the German field hockey championship.

The defensive midfielder made his debut in 1999 in the German national hockey team , with which he became European champion in 1999 . While Duckwitz was not considered for the 2000 Olympic Games and the 2002 World Cup, he was part of the victorious German team at the FIH Champions Trophy in 2001 and came second in the 2002 Champions Trophy. After a strong club season in 2004, he returned to the national team for the 2004 Olympic Games and won the bronze medal with the German team in Athens. Duckwitz celebrated his greatest sporting success at the 2006 World Cup in Mönchengladbach when he won the title with the German team. Overall, Eike Duckwitz played 156 international matches for the German national team from 1999 to 2007. He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting success .
