Eike Ebert

Eike Ebert (born January 11, 1940 in Detmold ) is a German politician. From December 20, 1990 to November 10, 1994, he was a member of the German Bundestag for one electoral term . He was elected for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) through a direct mandate in Hesse .

Life

Ebert attended elementary school and then a grammar school in Detmold. After graduating from high school there in 1959, he studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main. In 1964 he passed the first state examination in law, four years later the second. He then started as a magistrate's assessor in Darmstadt and then became legal advisor at Darmstadt's Stadtsparkasse in 1970, of which he later became director. He was a member of the Sparkasse's board of directors from 1972, and was its chairman from 1976 to 1990. In 1990 he resigned from this post to join the German Bundestag. After leaving the Bundestag in 1994 and during his mandate, Ebert worked as a lawyer. Since 1998 he has been the managing director of Burnus GmbH, a care products company based in Darmstadt.

Ebert joined the SPD in 1956 and became chairman of the Jusos in Darmstadt in 1969 . Three years later he was elected chairman of the local association. Since 1981 he was city councilor and deputy parliamentary group leader in Darmstadt and finally in 1985 head of the city council. In the federal election in 1990 Ebert was elected to the Bundestag in Bundestag constituency 143 (Darmstadt). He was a full member of the Petitions Committee, the Finance Committee and the Post and Telecommunications Committee. Since October 1992 he has also been a deputy member of the Special Committee for the European Union. In the 1994 general election , he was unable to enter the Bundestag again.
