Eikeren or Eikern is an elongated and deep lake in the Norwegian municipalities of Øvre Eiker in Viken and Holmestrand in Vestfold og Telemark .
At the eastern end of the lake is the place Eidsfoss . In this section the water of the lakes Bergsvann , Vikevann , Haugestadvann and Hillestadvann flows towards the Eikeren. The Eikeren also receives water from the Hakavikelva and Steinbruelva tributaries .
The western part of the Eikeren is connected to Lake Fiskumvannet by a narrow waterway, the Sundet . An average flow rate of 7 m³ / s leaves the lake via the Sundet. From Fiskumvannet the water flows over the Vestfosselva towards Vestfossen . At Hokksund , the river splits into two arms, both of which flow into the Drammen river.
Since 2005, the Eikeren has been used by Vestfold Interkommunale Vannverk (VIV) as an additional drinking water reservoir to supply the Vestfold district.
The Hakavik storage power plant is located on the western bank of the Eikeren .
