There are various small archipelago islands in the immediate vicinity . It is believed that a Saint Clement Chapel mentioned in 1146 stood on Eime. At least in 1620, however, it no longer existed.
Eime has been designated as a nature reserve Eime naturreservat since May 7, 1982 . The purpose of the protection is to protect the seabirds and their breeding grounds and, in general, the plants and animals native to the island. At the same time, a protection ordinance that had existed for the area since May 13, 1938, expired. Entry is prohibited from April 15 to August 1 of each year. In addition, the area around the island is part of the Heglane og Eime nature reserve .
